The Vice Chancellor of American International University – Bangladesh, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna attended the Executive Committee meeting of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) held in Alexandria, Egypt on May 7-8, 2009. IAUP is an Organization of the global University Head responsible for coordination/ promotion of higher educational affairs of various region. The Executive Committee meeting discussed the briefings on the Regional Councils.  Dr. Lamagna who is the Treasurer-elect of the Association, represented South Asia region as regional Chairman. Among other issues discussed are the following : i) the Projects REACHED and Capacity Building with the World Bank, ii) World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) with Qatar Foundation, iii) The United Nations Academic Impact and Alliance of Civilization. She also participated in a seminar held there on May 9, 2009 on “Higher Education in Africa and in the Arab World”. There were galaxy of gathering of administrators from various region of the world and shared ideas, experiences and exchanged views on important higher educational issues. This will be useful for Bangladesh Universities, research institutes and businesses sector.
