A student team BartaProhori — comprising Md. Mehedi Hasan Ratul, Md. Tahsin Tasnim Aurin, Saad Bin Sami, and Md. Abdullah Al Mahmud Naiem — from the Department of Computer Science, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), has been honored with a Merit Award in the “Inclusion and Community Services” category (Student Division) at the Bangladesh ICT and Innovation Awards 2025.

The award ceremony took place on October 18, 2025, at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), celebrating outstanding technological innovations and visionary projects from across the country.

Supervised by Md. Manirul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Director, Institute of Continuing Education, the project titled “Barta Prohori: A Community-Driven Deep Learning Framework to Classify Localized Smishing” leverages advanced Deep Learning algorithms to detect and classify smishing (SMS phishing) attacks across text, audio, and image modalities. The system also includes a community-driven reporting platform, empowering users to share real-time information on cyber threats and strengthen cybersecurity awareness at the grassroots level.

In recognition of their innovation and social impact, Team BartaProhori has been selected to represent Bangladesh at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2025, to be held in Taiwan from December 4–8, 2025, where they will showcase their pioneering project on the international stage.
