An American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) student achieved notable academic recognition by securing the 3rd Best Poster Presenter Award  in the Mathematics Track at the 2nd International Conference on Frontiers in Science: Innovation & Technology for Greener Industry (2nd ICFS:ITGI), held on 15–16 January 2026. Organized by Faculty of Science, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh

The award was won by - Sadi Mohammad Meraj for his research poster titled Big Data Analytics for Enhancing Urban Planning and Resource Management in Dhaka City (Paper ID: Math-PS-15). The conference was organized by the Faculty of Science, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and brought together researchers, academicians, and professionals to discuss innovative scientific and technological solutions aimed at promoting greener and more sustainable industries.

The research emphasized the application of big data analytics to improve urban planning processes and optimize resource management in Dhaka City, offering data-driven insights to support smarter and more efficient urban development. What made this study particularly innovative was its integration of large-scale urban data with analytical models to address real-world challenges specific to a densely populated megacity like Dhaka. The proposed approach supported evidence-based decision-making for policymakers and urban planners, enabling more sustainable, adaptive, and future-ready city management strategies.

Sadi Mohammad Meraj conducted the research under the supervision of Md. Mortuza Ahmmed, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, AIUB. Notably, under his supervision, a total of 13 research papers from AIUB were accepted for presentation at the conference, highlighting strong academic mentorship and the university’s growing engagement in research activities.

This achievement reflected AIUB’s continued commitment to research excellence, innovation, and active participation in international academic platforms.

The AIUB community proudly congratulates the award-winning Student and their supervisor, Md. Mortuza Ahmmed, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, for this outstanding achievement.
