As part of its core principles of social responsibility and humanitarian commitment, AIUB Social Welfare Club–SHOMOY successfully organized one of its signature events, “Awareness Building and Voluntary Blood Donation Program 2026,” on August 19, 2026 (Wednesday), in association with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, under the facilitation of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB. The day-long event ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Rooms 3201 and 3203, Annex 3, AIUB Campus, bringing together students, faculty members, and administrative staff in a collective effort to support this noble, life-saving cause.

Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, AIUB, officially inaugurated the blood donation program and was joined by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, Dean, FASS & Acting Treasurer, AIUB; and Prof. Dr. S. A. M. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, AIUB. Later, Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain, Adviser and Dean-In-Charge, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB, attended the event and appreciated the club's efforts. The presence of the university’s senior leadership added significance to the initiative and greatly encouraged the participating donors, volunteers, and organizing team to remain committed to the cause throughout the program. The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society medical team, led by Mr. Shah Rajiur Rahman and Ms. Imrun Nahar, provided essential support throughout the program, including donor registration, health screening, blood collection, and post-donation care.

The 10^th Executive Committee and dedicated Club Volunteers successfully planned and implemented the event under the guidance and supervision of Club Mentor Mr. Hamidul Islam [Hamid], Associate Professor, Dept. of Marketing, FBA, and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB. Representing the OSA, AIUB, Mr. Stanley Sumon Rodrick, Associate Professor, Dept. of Marketing, FBA, and Special Assistant, OSA, along with Mr. Rakib Aziz, Officer, OSA, AIUB, extended their valuable support, coordination, and administrative assistance, contributing significantly to the smooth and successful execution of the event.

With enthusiastic participation from students across all academic faculties, along with active support from faculty members during the awareness booth operations held from 16 to 19 August 2026, the program received an overwhelming response. More than 350 individuals registered as prospective voluntary blood donors, reflecting the strong spirit of social responsibility within the AIUB community. As a result, the program collected 126 bags of blood, each representing a meaningful contribution toward saving lives and supporting patients in urgent need.

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society presented donor cards and token gifts in recognition of the donors’ generosity, compassion, and valuable contribution to this humanitarian cause. The successful initiative once again underscored the strong culture of social responsibility fostered within the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) community. Students' active engagement in such life-saving initiatives reflects their commitment to humanitarian service, community well-being, and the collective pursuit of a healthier, more compassionate society.
