On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, AIUB Social Welfare Club–Shomoy in association with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and supported by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB successfully organized one of its signature events “Awareness Building and Voluntary Blood Donation Program”. The day-long event took place from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the rooms 3201 and 3202 of Annex 3, AIUB campus bringing together the students, faculty members, and administrative staffs in a collective effort to support this life-saving cause.
The program was formally inaugurated by Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor of AIUB. Their presence and encouraging words served as a strong motivation for all the donors, club volunteers, and the organizers throughout the day. Dr. Zahidur Rahman, Medical Officer & In-charge Blood Programme, Red Crescent Blood Center, Dhaka, along with Md. Shah Rajiur Rahman, Program & Motivation Officer, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and other Medical Team Members were present during the event for donor registration, eligibility check, blood collection, group matching, post-donation health care, and further required services.
The event was conducted under the close supervision of the Club Mentors Mr. Hamidul Islam [Hamid], Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA); Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB, and Mr. Md. Monir Hossain, Lecturer, Department of Social Science, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, AIUB. Mr. Stanley Sumon Rodrick, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing, FBA; Special Assistant, OSA, and Mr. Rakib Aziz, Officer, OSA, represented the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), AIUB to ensure smooth functioning and coordination during the event.
With the enthusiastic participation from students across all the academic faculties, along with a significant number of faculty members—both male and female—the program marked a successful one. A total of 200 bags of blood were collected, each representing a valuable contribution to those in urgent medical need.
Donor Cards and Token Gift were distributed by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society as a symbol of appreciation, recognizing the selfless spirit of those who generously came forward to donate. American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) continues to take great pride in its socially conscious students, whose involvement in humanitarian efforts like this reflects their unwavering commitment to creating a better, and healthier society.
The Blood Donation Campaign stands as a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact—for today and for generations to come.
