On Monday, June 29, 2026, the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Le Méridien Dhaka, one of the country's leading luxury hospitality brands under Marriott International, to strengthen collaboration in hospitality education, internships, industry training, and career development for AIUB students and alumni.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at Le Méridien Dhaka in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations. Representing AIUB, the agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Advisor and Dean-in-Charge, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA). On behalf of Le Méridien Dhaka, the agreement was signed by Mr. Constantinos S. Gavriel, General Manager of Le Méridien Dhaka.

The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Roome Tareque Moudud, FCMA, Director, Office of Placement and Alumni (OPA), AIUB, and Mr. Emamul Haque, Director of Human Resources, Le Méridien Dhaka, highlighting the shared commitment of both institutions to creating meaningful industry engagement and career opportunities for students.

Under this two-year partnership, AIUB and Le Méridien Dhaka will work together to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice through a range of collaborative initiatives. These include internship opportunities such as On-the-Job Training (OJT), Marriott's "Marriotternship" program, operational development training, and other mutually agreed professional training initiatives. The collaboration also aims to provide AIUB students with enhanced access to entry-level employment opportunities, subject to organizational requirements and recruitment policies.

In addition to student development, the partnership emphasizes faculty engagement through guest lectures, faculty visits, and knowledge-sharing initiatives designed to enrich teaching with contemporary industry perspectives. The MoU reflects the mutual vision of both organizations to develop highly employable graduates equipped with practical skills and professional competencies required in the evolving hospitality sector.

Following the signing ceremony, representatives from AIUB and Le Méridien Dhaka held a productive discussion on several future collaboration opportunities. The discussion also explored future areas of collaboration between the two institutions.

This partnership marks another significant milestone in AIUB's ongoing commitment to strengthening industry-academia collaboration through its Office of Placement and Alumni (OPA). By working closely with leading industry partners, AIUB continues to expand experiential learning opportunities, enhance graduate employability, and prepare students to meet the demands of the modern workforce.
