The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has taken another significant step toward strengthening the connection between academic education and professional development through the signing of an Addendum to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) on 20^th August, 2026.

Under this enhanced academic-professional collaboration, eligible students of the Department of Finance and the Department of Accounting at AIUB will receive exemptions from three subjects under the relevant ICAB academic or professional pathway: Accounting, Management Information, and Information Technology. The exemptions are expected to provide students with a more streamlined pathway toward professional accountancy qualifications while complementing their academic studies at AIUB.

Representing the Department of Finance, Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Professor and Director, MBA Program, signed the Addendum to the MoU on behalf of the department. Representing the Department of Accounting, Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan, Associate Professor and Department Head, Department of Accounting, signed the Addendum on behalf of his department. Quazi Nur Alam, Assistant Professor, Department of Finance, signed as a witness to both Addendums. Together, these three faculty members represented AIUB in the signing and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between academia and leading professional institutions.

The Addendum to the MoU with ICAB marks an important development for students of the Faculty of Business Administration, particularly those pursuing studies in Finance and Accounting. By recognizing relevant academic coursework through subject exemptions, the collaboration will help students connect their university education with professional qualifications. This initiative further reflects AIUB’s continued commitment to providing students with opportunities that bridge academic knowledge and professional practice. The strengthened collaboration with ICAB is expected to enhance professional readiness, encourage students to pursue internationally recognized accountancy qualifications, and contribute to the development of skilled future leaders in accounting, finance, and business.
