AIUB retains the Champion’s Trophy at the 2nd National Cisco Skills Competition 2009
AIUB RETAINS THE CHAMPION’S TROPHY AT THE 2ND NATIONAL CISCO SKILLS COMPETITION 2009
Once again AIUB was the proud host of the 2nd National CISCO Skills Competition 2009, where 47 teams comprising 141 Cisco Academy graduates of CCNA (Students of Computer Network Engineering) from 13 universities across Bangladesh, took part in the event. The prestigious competition was inaugurated by Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB in the morning, followed by a Press Conference in the afternoon which was addressed by Dr. Hasanul Abedin Hasan, V.P. Admin, Treasury, & HR on behalf of AIUB and Mr. Lokesh Mehra, Regional Manager, South Asia of behalf of CISCO. A large group of journalists from the electronic and print media were present.
The competition comprised of 3 different parts; starting with an on-line MCQ, followed by a Packet-Tracer contest, and finally a computer network trouble shooting round. The panel of judges and the question setting committees comprised of senior faculty members of several universities around Bangladesh. The event was keenly contested by all the teams with outstanding performances coming from AIUB and BUET. The Champions trophy was once again won by an AIUB team called the AIUB-LEADERS, while both the 1st Runner’s Up, and 2nd Runner’s Up trophies were won by 2 teams from BUET. The champions will be taking part in the SAARC Regional Competition as well as the Asia Pacific Regional Competition later this year. The competition was held at Campus-4 in AIUB’s State-of-the-Art computer labs.
The participants of all the top 10 teams were awarded medals by Mr. Jagan Jothivel, Area Academy Manager, CISCO Systems India (pvt.) Limited, while the championship trophies were handed over by
Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna. Plaques of appreciation were handed over to the distinguished guest speakers from CISCO and from BUET by Dr. Anwarul Abedin, Chairman-Board of Trustees of the American International University Bangladesh.
The event ended with a note of thanks to all the AIUB faculty and officers who worked tirelessly for over a month to organize the event and to train the participating AIUB teams.
