AIUB Professor Delivers Keynote at Uttara University English Symposium

Professor Dr. Md. Asif Kamal, Department of English, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and Member of the Research & Publication Steering Committee, Office of Research at American International University-Bangladesh, delivered a keynote address at The Uttara University English Symposium, organized by the Department of English, Uttara University, on Thursday, 9 July 2026.

The symposium, titled "Language, Culture, and Identity: A Content- and Values-Integrated Approach to English Education," brought together academics, faculty members, and students to explore contemporary approaches to English language education. In his keynote presentation, Dr. Kamal highlighted the significance of integrating language, culture, and values through innovative pedagogical practices that promote meaningful, contextualized, and holistic English education. His presentation also emphasized the role of content- and values-integrated learning in developing learners' linguistic competence, critical thinking, intercultural awareness, and ethical perspectives.

The event was graced by Professor Dr. Syeda Afroza Zerin, Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, and Dr. Shah Ahmed, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of English, Uttara University. Distinguished guests included Professor Faez Mohammad Serajul Haque, Professor, Department of English and Advisor, Uttara University, and Professor Haspia Bashirullah, Professor, Department of English and Treasurer, Uttara University.

Following the keynote, Dr. Saleh Ahmad, Associate Professor, Department of English and Associate Director of the Centre for Training & Research, Uttara University, delivered a reflective discussion that further enriched the academic dialogue.

The symposium concluded with an engaging interaction among faculty members and students, fostering meaningful discussions on language, culture, identity, and contemporary English language education. Dr. Kamal's participation in the event reflects AIUB's continued commitment to academic excellence, scholarly collaboration, and the promotion of innovative teaching and research at both national and international levels.
