AIUB Physics Day 2026 Celebrated with Scientific Enthusiasm and Innovation

The Department of Natural Science (Physics) under the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at American International University-Bangladesh successfully organized “AIUB Physics Day 2026” in association with the AIUB Astronomy and Space Science Club. The celebration was held at the AIUB campus on Thursday, April 30, 2026, on the occasion of “World Physics Day” and “World Quantum Day,” bringing together students, faculty members of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, distinguished guests and researchers in a vibrant celebration of science, research, and innovation. The event was coordinated by Dr. Farzana Sabeth, Associate Professor, Department of Natural Science (Physics), AIUB, with the active participation of all the faculty members of the department.

The program commenced with the inauguration ceremony through ribbon-cutting followed by an exhibition titled “Astrophysics Unveiled: আলো হাতে চলিয়াছে আঁধারের যাত্রী,” which received widespread appreciation from participants and visitors. The exhibition showcased fascinating concepts and recent developments in astrophysics and modern scientific research. Honourable Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman visited the exhibition with keen interest and shared valuable insights with the participating students. Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar of AIUB, also visited the exhibition and expressed their appreciation for the students’ innovative presentations and scientific initiatives. Furthermore, the program featured several events, including a quiz contest, seminar and prize distribution ceremony for the exhibition and Physics Quiz competition, where participating students were recognized for their creativity, scientific knowledge, and outstanding performances.The formal session began with a welcome address delivered by Mr. Mashiour Rahman, Senior Associate Professor and Dean-In-Charge of FST, AIUB, who emphasized the importance of scientific education, research, and innovation in shaping future generations. Following the welcome address, Dr. Nusrat Jahan, Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Science (Physics), delivered a seminar titled “Exploring the Benefits of Green Synthesis over Traditional Methods and the Characterization of Barium-Doped Nickel-Zinc Nano-Ferrites Using Jamun Pulp.” Her presentation highlighted environmentally sustainable synthesis approaches and advancements in nanomaterials research.

The event was further enriched by a speech from the Guest of Honor and Renowned scientist, Prof. Dr. Khondkar Siddique-e-Rabbani, Honorary Professor and Founding Chairperson of the Department of Biomedical Physics & Technology (2008-2015) at the University of Dhaka and the founder President of Bi-BEAT Ltd. He shared experiences from his distinguished research career, offering valuable insights into scientific thinking, innovation, and perseverance. He also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing contemporary technological and healthcare challenges, inspiring students to pursue research with curiosity, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose.

The program continued with a speech delivered by Dr. Humayra Ferdous, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Natural Science (Physics), highlighting the academic and research activities conducted at AIUB, along with the achievements of the faculty members of her department. She also emphasized the department’s ongoing commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and research excellence among students. The seminar was further strengthened by the presence of the distinguished attendees, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Khandaker Tabin Hasan, Head of the department of Computer Science [Graduate Program] and Prof. Dr. S. A. M. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor of AIUB, whose presence added significance to the event.

The program concluded with closing remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Dip Nandi, Associate Dean of FST, followed by a group photo session with guests, faculty members, and students.

The program was anchored by the students Zayema Nuha, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Aurthy Sarker from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, whose engaging presentation added enthusiasm to the program.

“AIUB Physics Day 2026” successfully created a dynamic platform for scientific discussion, knowledge sharing, and inspiration for young researchers, reflecting AIUB’s strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and scientific advancement.
