On July 28, 2016, a seminar titled “An overview of Bangladesh Income Tax” was organized by the Department of Accounting to give the students an opportunity to link between academic and corporate world. The seminar was arranged by Mr. Khondoker Ziaur Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Business Administration. The main objective of this seminar was to share the views from taxpayer’s perspective and views from tax administration. The key speaker was Mr. Kamrul Hoque Maruf, Joint Director, Central Intelligence Cell, National Board of Revenue. Mr. Kamrul shared the functional activities of National Board of Revenue, calculation of individual tax liability, different avenues of tax avoidance and tax evasion practice. He also shared the practical experiences based on the questions asked by the audiences.
The seminar was coordinated by Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Accounting & Finance. He also handed over a certificate of appreciation and souvenir to Mr. Kamrul Hoque Maruf as a mark of respect to his effort. The seminar ended with a thanks note by Mr. Mohammad Faridul Alam.
