The anticipation was high and teams from across the country prepared with excitement as City Bank Presents BUP IV 2025 (English) unfolded at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) campus on May 23–24, 2025. Held in the British Parliamentary format, the tournament welcomed 32 teams of different universities in two days of debate competition.

Among the standout teams was AOC STARCH, representing the AIUB Oratory Club, who made a remarkable journey in the Novice category. After battling through four intense preliminary rounds on May 23, the team made a dramatic breakthrough on the points table, securing a coveted spot in the grand finale on May 24.

As newcomers to a tournament of this scale while facing strong finalists from Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), United International University (UIU), and Debaters of Chittagong University (DCU), AOC STARCH delivered a commanding performance and emerged as the Novice Champions. The team comprised Akib Hasan Mia and Tasfia Tabassum.

One of the most unforgettable moments came during the final preliminary round, where the team had to secure first place to qualify for the final. The announcement that they had done sent goosebumps through the room—it was a make-or-break moment that defined their resilience and potential. In another bold move, AOC STARCH chose to take the floor first as Opening Government in the final round. The decision sparked a mix of reactions, with many surprised by the choice. But the team stood their ground with confidence and clarity, setting the tone for a powerful debate that ultimately led to their championship win.

This victory not only highlights the growing strength of the AIUB Oratory Club on the national stage but also reflects the courage, spontaneity, and strategic thinking of its debaters. AOC STARCH’s win at BUP IV 2025 will long be remembered as a story of underdogs rising, making their mark with grit and grace.
