The Department of Management Information Systems organized the first ever MIS Day on 5^th of December, 2016 on AIUB premises. The event was officially inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Zita Lamagna in the morning. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean Faculty of Business Administration, Prof. Dr. Tofazzal Hossain, Vice President, Academics, Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Tabin Hasan, Dept Head of MIS, Manzur H. Khan, Director of OSA also graced the occasion with their presence. The Vice Chancellor visited the Poster Presentations by students on different topics of MIS, ranging from usage, practice and implementation in both private and public sectors. Students also presented various business tech ideas that are both relevant and useful in the current day and age both from technology and business standpoint. Future technologies that help businesses were showcased to create awareness among students and faculty members, the technologies that they can utilize in their academic and professional lives. A Digital Poster competition was held in Social Media that generated huge participation by students from all departments.

A talk show on “Practices and Opportunities of MIS in the Industry” was held in the afternoon with participants from banking and telecom industry, as well as from the Government of Bangladesh. Mr. Nazmur Rahim, Acting Head of Retail Banking, BRAC Bank Ltd., Mr. Shafi Mohammad Wasif Osman, General Manager, Business Intelligence, Robi Axiata, Mrs. Kazi Syeda Momtaz, Computer System Analyst, Roads and Highways, Dhaka Division, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Md. Ashraful Haque an Alumni of American International University – Bangladesh graced the occasion from their respective sectors and shared valuable insight on the topic. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro VC and Dean of Faculty of Business Administration gave the concluding speech. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Tabin Hasan which was followed by the award ceremony to recognize the winners of the competitions and specially to the MIS faculties – Mehzab Nahid, Nazia Farhana, Mahbubur Rahman, Arnob Zahid, Saddam Khan and Raihan Kibria, VUES team – Danilo G. Morgia, Golam Morshed, Mahmudul Islam Shawon and Manmiruzzaman Bappy, and all student volunteers.

Several workshops on topics such as SAP, E-commerce and Woocommerce were also held. Students from all departments participated in these workshops to attain practical experience on the assigned topic.
