AIUB MPH Daylong Workshop on Data Analysis

Department of Public Health of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a  workshop on Data Analysis entitled “AIUB MPH daylong workshop on Basic Research & Data Analysis” on 20 May 2016, held in the AIUB Auditorium and AIUB Computer Labs. It mainly focused on SPSS Software. The keynote speaker of the workshop was Prof. Dr. AKM Nurun Nabi, the Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University.

The opening ceremony was conducted by the MPH faculty, Dr. Md. Aurangzeb. Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Charles Carillo Villanueva introduced the keynote speaker Prof. Nabi to the audience. Prof. Nabi while addressing the participants explained the nature and importance of research. He also informed the participants on how to select a research topic and the factors affecting it. He talked about some important elements which should be considered in selecting a research topic.

After the lecture and the snacks break, all the participants were taken to the computer labs for hands-on data analysis training session. There were 5 trainers, Dr. Shamsul Arifeen Khan, Rubayyat Hashmi, Atika Farzana, Md. Mortuza Ahmmed and Tahmidul Islam. After the lunch and prayer break, there was another session on data analysis training and practice which was followed by a quiz competition on SPSS Software and AIUB after which Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim delivered an interactive lecture on the scopes of jobs to those currently studying MPH.

Prizes were distributed amongst the participants and crests among the trainers, and the organizers by Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Neaz, Dr. Md. Aurangzeb, Dr. Md. Abu Jamil Faisel and Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim.

The whole workshop was coordinated by MPH Faculty Dr. Md. Aurangzeb. Without his support, dedication and efficient management this workshop would not have taken such a wonderful shape. The media partner for this workshop was RTV, radio partner was Radio Amar 88.4FM, print partner was The Independent and Daily Shomokal, online partner was Newshour and beverage partner was Coca Cola.
