A Moot Team from AIUB qualified for the Semi Final Rounds of the UMSAILS-UAP Inter University Moot Court Competition – 2024 and won the ‘Spirit of the Moot’ award. This year, 20 teams from different public and private universities in Bangladesh participated in the competition, held from April 18-20, 2024, on the campus of University of Asia Pacific. The Competition aims to provide a platform for aspiring legal minds from various universities to engage in rigorous legal advocacy and hone their skills in oral argumentation and legal research.

Two teams from American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) participated in the inaugural session of the competition. The first AIUB Team, comprised of three students from the Department of Law namely – Sanjida Sohana, Khan Md Lamim Ebny Habib, and Animesh Sutradhar, became the Semi Finalist and received the “Spirit of the Moot” Award. The team was coached and trained by Mr. Ahasan Habib, Lecturer in Law and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Additionally, another AIUB Team comprised of three students from the Department of Law, namely, Eshtiaque Zulquarnain Tashdid, Kohinoor Akter, and Razib Hossain Faisal, and was coached by Mr. Sadman Rizwan Apurbo, Lecturer in Law.

UNESCO Madanjeet Singh South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (UMSAILS) in collaboration with the Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized the UAP – UAMSAILS Inter University Moot Court Competition, 2024. Mr. Justice A.F.M. Abdur Rahman (Retd.) inaugurated the competition as the chief guest on the 18th of April 2024 while Dr. M Alauddin, member, BOT, UAP, and Prof. Dr. Sultan Mahmud, Pro Vice-Chancellor, UAP, were also present as the special guests. Mr. Md. Abdur Rahim, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Law & Human Rights, UAP, and other faculty members of the Department of Law & Human Rights, UAP, were also present.

After two days of intense mooting, the Final Round of the Competition took place on 20th April 2024. The judges of the final round were Mr. Justice Mirza Hossain Haider (Retd.), Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh; Dr. Sharif Bhuiyan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Director, SAILS; and Dr. Khaled Hamid Chowdhury, Advocate, Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor, UAP, and Prof. Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Acting Dean, School of Law, were present as the special guests. In the Closing Ceremony, Architect Mahbuba Haque, Chairperson, BOT, UAP, was present as the chief guest of the program where Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor, UAP, and Prof. Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Acting Dean, School of Law, were present as the special guests.
