Students from the Media and Mass Communication (MMC) Department of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) visited Gorai Film Production House at DOHS, Mirpur, on Wednesday, December 24, as part of their academic activities.
The students, accompanied by their course instructor, Mr. Niaz Majumdar, arrived at the production house around 10:30 a.m. The visit was organized under the course Introduction to Documentary to provide students with practical exposure to professional filmmaking and documentary production.
Upon arrival, the students toured the studio facilities of Gorai Film Production House. The premises showcased framed cinematic moments, awards, and creative displays highlighting the organization’s journey, achievements, and contributions to the film industry.
Following the tour, a discussion session was held focusing on the role and significance of documentaries. Mr. Fakhrul Arefeen Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Gorai Film Production House, led the session and shared insights into documentary filmmaking, storytelling, and creative practice. He emphasized that success in filmmaking is an ongoing process of learning, creativity, and growth rather than a final destination.
During the session, Mr. Arefeen presented the trailer of Gorai’s acclaimed film Gondi, discussing its conceptual development and thematic focus. The students also viewed two of his short films, Demon Fish and Jol-Pani-Water, which highlighted the use of visual storytelling, sound, and emotion to convey socially relevant messages.
The visit concluded with an interactive exchange and a photo session. The students returned with enhanced practical knowledge, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of documentary and film production.
