Department of Marketing, FBA, AIUB organized a study tour to Akij Food & Beverage Limited (AFBL) factory, Dhamrai on March 16, 2017, as part of the regular student development program. Students from different Marketing Major courses went to visit the ‘Akij Industrial Park’ to get some real-life insights about the factory operations, branding, sales & distribution processes of the organization.
AFBL is a business concern from one of the renowned Bangladeshi conglomerates, AKIJ Group. And it is one of the country’s leading Food & Beverage manufacturing companies selling products in Bangladesh and exporting to 23 countries in the global markets. Some of the product lines of AFBL include Fruit Drinks, Carbonated Beverages, Mineral Water, Pasteurized Milk, Ghee, Pickles, Jam, Chips, Chanachur, etc. Aafi, Frutika, Mojo, Lemu, Clemon, Speed, Spa, Farm Fresh, O’ Potato etc. are some of the successful Brands of AFBL.
Upon arrival at the AFBL factory premises, Mr. A.S.M Shihabul Huda, Deputy Manager (Quality Assurance), greeted the students and the faculty members. The visitors were accompanied to a brief session about the company introduction, product line information, production processes, brands, sales and supply chain strategies by Mr. Kawsar Ahmed, Executive (HR & Admin). After the session, the students were divided into 2 groups and visited the factory lines of Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSD) units, Food Production unit, and Milk Processing unit. The respective line supervisors were also present during the visits and briefed the students about the production and storage processes.
After the completion of the respective factory visits, the AFBL officials organized a competitive quiz session for the students where all the students proactively participated and 18 of them won surprise gift from the factory management. Mr. Shihabul handed over the gifts to the winners followed by a vote of thanks. At the closing, the faculty members also expressed their vote of appreciation to the AFBL officials and presented gift packs, respectively, on behalf of AIUB.
Mr. Hamidul Islam, Assistant. Professor, and Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Assistant. Professor from the Department of Marketing took the initiatives in organizing the trip under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean, FBA, and Prof. Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director, MBA program.
