AIUB Marketing Genius 2012

The Department of Marketing, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a knowledge based competitive event based on ‘Products, Brands and Marketing strategies analysis’ entitled AIUB Marketing Genius 2012 on April 19, 2012 (Thursday). The objective of the event was to provide real life marketing insights about the local and multinational companies to the current students of basic marketing course and to improve their analytical & presentation abilities.   The program was inaugurated at 10:00 am by Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, the Honorable Dean, Faculty of Business Administration and Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Department of Marketing. Faculties from the Marketing and other departments were also present at that time. Around 260 students from 8 sections of Principles of Marketing course participated in the day-long event. The event was jointly initiated and coordinated by all the course instructors of Principles of Marketing; Mr. AKM Kamrul Haque, Mr. Hamidul Islam, Mr. Stanley Rodrick and Mr. Mahmud Habib Zaman, under direct guidance and support from Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director, BBA Program and Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Department of Marketing. Ms. Mahreen Mamoon, Mr. Golam Mostofa, Ms. Tahsina Khan and Mr. Partha Prasad Chowdhury from the Department of Marketing were present as well and gave their endless support to supervise and judge several rounds of the event.  It was an exciting session divided into 3 different rounds. The First Round was Quiz Round on products, brands and other basic information of selected companies. Approximately, 65 teams with 4 members in each team participated in that round. The Second Round was Analysis of Marketing Strategies, where 16 qualified teams from first round were asked to analyze the current & future marketing strategies of those selected companies. The Third and Final Round was Presentation Round where qualified 5 teams from second round had to develop and present their total observation and findings regarding the total marketing strategies of their respective companies. After a comprehensive panel judgment, 1 Champion team, 1 First Runner Up and 1 Second Runner up teams were selected as the Winners. At the evening of the day, Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, MBA Program Director and Mr. Zobair Shibli, Head, Department of Marketing, presented Trophies and Crests to the Champion, Runner Up teams and Finalists. The Faculty Mentors of the event were likewise presented a Token of Appreciation for their laudable contribution in making the activities successful.
