The Department of Media and Mass Communication (MMC) at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized an inspiring Mobile Journalism Workshop on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Media Studio, Annex 2. The event ran from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and provided a hands-on learning experience for aspiring journalists on how to effectively use mobile phones for storytelling in journalism.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism, Media, and Communication, Daffodil International University (DIU). Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan shared his expertise and knowledge emphasizing practical techniques and tools to transform mobile devices into powerful storytelling platforms.
Respected Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of AIUB professor Dr. Tazul Islam attended the program as the Chief Guest. He encouraged students to embrace evolving technologies and hone their storytelling skills to meet the demands of the rapidly changing media landscape.
Students from MMC and other departments of AIUB attended the workshop, gaining valuable insights into the technical aspects of mobile journalism, such as video editing, scripting, and on-the-go reporting. The interactive format of the session impressed participants, allowing them to practice and refine their skills under expert guidance. Practical training in mobile journalism equips students to meet the growing demands of digital media, boosts their confidence, and enhances their competitive edge in the media industry. Expert guidance and real-time practice further foster creativity and problem-solving skills, essential for success as professional journalists or media practitioners.
In the beginning of the workshop, coordinator of MMC department MS. Rani Ellen V. Ramos welcomed the guest and participants. Faculty members of MMC department Mr. Niaz Mazumdar and Ms. Afroza Sultana also attended the program. The Workshop was organized and hosted by Mst. Nasrin Akter, Assistant Professor of MMC department.
