The AIUB eSports Club successfully organized the grand finale of “AIUB Homegrounds 2026,” a premier intra-university hybrid esports tournament, at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) campus. The event brought together students from across the university to compete in a dynamic platform that emphasized strategic thinking, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence.

The online phase of the tournament commenced on 16 August 2026, followed by the LAN Grand Finals held from 23 to 25 August 2026. The tournament featured four popular esports titles—Valorant, eFootball Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), and EA FC 26—with a total prize pool of BDT 65,000.

A key highlight of the grand finals was the presence of distinguished national and international guests, along with senior leadership of AIUB. The event was graced by Her Excellency Nina P. Cainglet, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Bangladesh, whose presence added special significance to the occasion and reflected the growing recognition of esports as an emerging platform for youth engagement and digital innovation.

The grand finals were also attended by Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Founder Member of the AIUB Board of Trustees, and Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of the AIUB Board of Trustees. Their presence demonstrated the university’s strong institutional support for student-led esports initiatives and provided encouragement to the participating students.

Among the distinguished AIUB officials present at the event were Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor, AIUB, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor, AIUB, Prof. Dr. Manzur H. Khan, Proctor, Directors and Heads of Different faculties.

The presence of distinguished guests and senior university leadership provided the participating students with an opportunity to showcase their competitive skills, tactical coordination, communication, and teamwork in a professional tournament environment.

AIUB Homegrounds 2026 represents an important milestone in the development of campus esports at AIUB and contributes to the broader growth of esports culture in Bangladesh. By bringing together students, university leadership, and an international diplomatic representative, the event demonstrated how esports can serve as a meaningful extracurricular platform that connects traditional university activities with the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
