AIUB gets 3 Finalists in Top 10 of SAP Global Contest

In the recent SAP Mining and Metals Forum Contest, 3 of the top 10 finalists were from the American International University- Bangladesh wherein students were made to create a blog about finding solutions on the future problems of mining and metals using emerging technologies such as “the internet of things”. Dr. Carmen Lamagna, AIUB Vice Chancellor together with SAP certified instructor Mr. Eduardo Alcanzare awarded each of the finalists a certificate of achievement on August 14, 2014.  “Today is a special day for us because once again we’ve proven that we belong to the top schools globally. The university has always been committed to providing our students with skillsets that will be relevant not only today but as well as the future.” says Dr. Lamagna. AIUB being the first and only university SAP University Alliance partner in Bangladesh- was entitled to make entries to the said competition. The finalists were namely Md. Manzur Morshed with the entry “Why the Internet of Things is Not the Sole Hero of the Future”, Md. Habibur Rahman with “Extraction of Mining and Metals Using Automated Pattern Recognition Technology” and Khandaker Hossaion with “Automated Mining Concept for Maximizing Output and Sustainability”. “We were surprised to find out on July 30,2014 when the news came out that three of us from AIUB were able to get in the second round of the contest because this is a global competition and very notable schools internationally participated.” says Khandaker Hossaion. The contestants were voted by members of the SAP community Network. Md. Monzur Morshed was happy to say “This is such a great experience because we didn’t realize how many people appreciate our work. We’ve had great commendations from SAP experts from all over the world”. At the moment, the Continuing Education Center is taking in enrollment for SAP classes. Students are able to get hands-on experience in using top tier ERP systems which covers Sales and Distribution, Materials Management, Production Planning, Finance and Controlling and Human Capital Management. “This is the program we’re really encouraging students to take because we see very good results from our students. They have a good understanding of integrating the latest technologies with business processes and that is important.” says CEC director Md. Manirul Islam.
