On August 24–25, 2026, the AIUB Drama Club, under the supervision of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), organized the season 2 of their flagship two-day long intra-university drama festival titled “Curtain Rises.” Celebrating the creativity, dedication, and artistic expression of its members, the festival brought together faculty members, university officials, students, and theatre enthusiasts for two memorable evenings of theatrical performances at the AIUB Auditorium.

The festival opened on August 24 with “Juto Abishkar,” an adaptation of a satirical poem by Rabindranath, followed by “Oporachita,” a dramatization of Tagore’s famous short story. The first evening concluded with a dramatic representation of Edgar Ellen Poe’s immortal creation “Black Cat.”. Each production offered a distinct theatrical style, allowing the audience to experience different forms of dramatization while highlighting the performers’ versatility and stagecraft.

The celebration continued on August 25, with two contrasting productions. “Oshtoshongshoy” a spin on Reginald Rose’s 12 Angry Men which was staged in the afternoon, followed by a light-hearted university romance “Ek Crediter Prem (Part 2)” an ADC original.

The performances reflected the enthusiasm, imagination, and collaborative spirit of the AIUB Drama Club members, who contributed as performers, writers, and members of the production crew. The event concluded with an energetic cultural session with songs and dances from the club members.

The event was graced by Dr. S.A.M. Manzur H Khan, Proctor, AIUB. Throughout the entire event, the enthusiastic audience consisting of faculty members, officials and students cheered on the performers with their applauses. Their presence reflected the university’s continued support for student-led cultural initiatives and the performing arts.

Designed to foster creativity, confidence, and artistic collaboration, “Curtain Rises – Season 2” provided students with a meaningful platform to explore theatrical expression and connect with audiences. More than a series of performances, the festival reaffirmed the AIUB Drama Club’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant cultural environment within the university. Through two days of stories, emotions, laughter, and applause, the event celebrated theatre as a powerful medium of creativity, connection, and self-expression, adding another memorable chapter to AIUB’s cultural landscape.
