AIUB Computer Club (ACC) organized a seminar titled “Advanced Topics in Computational Logic” on November 11, 2015 at AIUB Auditorium from 10 am to 12 pm. Prof. Dr. Tafazzal Hossain, Vice President, Academic Affairs & Dean (in-charge), Faculty of Science & Information Technology (FSIT), AIUB was present in the session. Chief Guest was Prof. M. A. Quaiyum, Registrar, AIUB. Mr. Mashiour Rahman, Director, FSIT, AIUB and Dr. Dip Nandi, Head (Undergraduate Program), Department of Computer Science, AIUB were the special guests. The keynote speakers in the seminar were Mr. Md. Manzurul Hasan, Mr. Muhammad Sarwar Jahan Morshed and Mr. Akinul Islam Jony. They respectively gave their presentations on “On Graph Theory: Some Applications and Problems”, “Real Time Data Analytic: Opportunities and Challenges” and “Community Detection in Social Network”.
Mr. Md. Manzurul Hasan’s one was a nice interactive brain storming session among the teachers and students. He focused on the applications of Graph Theory in Computational Systems. Graph Theory is a very vital and essential field of Computer Science & Engineering. He sketched out three open problems (not solved yet in the world) on Graph Theory towards the audiences. The open problems are as follows in brief.
Mr. Muhammad Sarwar Jahan Morshed presented a spontaneous speech on Real Time Big Data Analytics-which was enjoyed by the students and other audiences with huge enthusiasm. Goal of his presentation was to inform students about the Real Time Big Data, its importance in socio-economic perspectives, and potential research scopes. He presented his research findings on identifying opportunities and relevant challenges in Real Time Big Data Analytics. Since Big Data is generally classified based on volume, velocity, variety and veracity of data, he found in his research that any proposed Real Time Data Analytics should have the following properties:
Therefore, challenges and research scopes for Real Time Big Data Analytics lie in these above properties.
Mr. Akinul Islam Jony presented his seminar topics in Social Computing area where he focused on community detection in social network. Community detection is a growing field of interest in the area of SocialNetwork. Many community detection methods have been introduced in recent years, with each such method being classified according to its algorithm type. A special focus is also given to community evaluation since this step becomes important in social data mining. He showed some open problems in his presentation regarding community detection in social network.
