AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized an Industrial Tour to PRAN INDUSTRIAL PARK (PIP) located at Palash, Narsingdi. It was on 17^th October, 2015 with 55 students and 5 faculty members from EEE department of AIUB. The team was led by Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE & Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB) and the motivator of ACES Ms. Shahreen Hassan (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB). Along with them Ms. Sumaiya Umme Hani   (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB), Ms. Sadia Yasmin (Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, AIUB), Mr. Kazi Ahmed Asif Fuad (Teaching Assistant, Department of EEE, AIUB) were present at this tour.

The tour aimed to observe the production operations and automation process in the industry as a relevant and enrichment of the engineering activities. PRAN is one of the largest manufacturing companies in Bangladesh. It was founded in 1981.  It is the largest exporter of processed agro products with the compliance of HALAL & HACCP to more than 100 countries.  PRAN have a well-developed infrastructure for production.

On arrival students were greeted and briefed by Mr. Alhaj Engr. Sheikh Abdul Quadir (General Manager, PIP) and Mr. Md. Bukharul Islam (AGM, PIP). They explained and showed a slide on the products of PRAN, production operation process, supply chain, inventory control, quality control and other aspects of the process. Then Students were grouped in 3 units assigning an instructor to each unit. The students took a whole trip around the industry and had seen automation process of mama wafer, butter and candy making, sheet packaging, milk purification and storage process, recycling of plastic bottle, mixing, injection modeling, printing and inspection of plastic waste and packaging. The instructors described the mechanism and gave an overview how the machineries are working and the processing chain of products.

ACES expressed profound indebtedness and gratitude and gave away gifts to the authority of PIP as a token of appreciation for their all out cooperation. The authority of PIP praised AIUB for taking such an initiative step to make the students familiar with the practical environment and asked to organize more events like this.
