Welcoming the Bengali New Year with festivity, color, and tradition, the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) celebrated AIUB Boishakhi Utshab 1433 on April 14, 2026, at its picturesque permanent campus. The day-long celebration brought together students, faculty members, alumni, administrative staff, and members of the management in a joyful expression of Bengali heritage and community spirit.
The campus transformed into a lively cultural arena, adorned with traditional motifs, handcrafted decorations, and vibrant installations inspired by folk art. Students from various departments, particularly the Department of Architecture and AIUB Arts Club, contributed to the festive ambiance through creative displays, street art, and thematic décor reflecting the richness of Bangladeshi culture.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Boishakhi Mela, featuring a wide range of student-managed stalls offering traditional food, handicrafts, cultural items, and festive specialties. The presence of the iconic nagordola added a nostalgic charm, drawing enthusiastic participation from attendees throughout the day.
The celebration also showcased a dynamic lineup of cultural performances. The AIUB Performing Arts Club (APAC) delivered engaging music and dance performances, while other student clubs contributed through interactive segments, adding diversity and energy to the event. The evening concert featured popular musical performances by Band Warfaze, Habib Wahid and Pritom Hasan that captivated the audience and brought the celebration to a vibrant close.
The event was inaugurated by Ms. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of AIUB, who joined the celebration along with other Board Members and senior officials. Among those present were members of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Ms. Sabrina Abedin and Ms. Dulce Lamagna. Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor, were also present, engaging with students and sharing in the festive spirit.
Dressed in traditional red and white attire, the AIUB community celebrated the essence of Pohela Boishakh with enthusiasm and unity. The event once again reflected AIUB’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus life.
As the celebration concluded with music, laughter, and shared memories, AIUB Boishakhi Utshab 1433 stood as yet another milestone of university’s sincere dedication to culture, creativity, and community engagement.
