| The intra-AIUB business plan and case solving competition – AIUB BUSINESS TALENTS (ABT) 2010 was held from July 19 to August 16, 2010. The AIUB Business Club (ABC) organizes this competition every year with an objective to find out and promote the potential business leaders from the undergraduate business students who represents AIUB in inter-university business competitions. 16 participating teams of this year’s contest were: Victory, Innovators, All Sparks, Future Executives, Virus, AIUB Rangers, Trend Catalyst, Fusion, Protégé, Elite, The Checkers, Octopus Paul, SKS, The Corporate Pirates, The Legendaries and Revolution.
The Opening Ceremony & Grooming Session was held on 19th July 2010. The session was conducted by Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director of MBA program and faculty advisor of AIUB Business Club (ABC). At the First Round, held on 21st July, all the teams had to solve a real life business case and present their solutions in front of the judges. 6 teams - namely Trend Catalysts, Future Executives, Octopus Paul, The Checkers, The Legendaries and The Corporate Pirates got the ticket for the second round. The Second Round was held on 24th July where the teams had to present a basic business proposal on different topics. A seventh team (The Last Survivors) was added in this round comprising of the three best scorers of the first round’s eliminated teams. Based on the feasibility of the project and total team performance, the best four teams got the privilege to participate at the Grand Finale of ABT 2010. Those were: Octopus Paul, The Checkers, Future Executives and The Last Survivors.
The Grand Finale of ABT 2010 was held on August 16, 2010 in AIUB Auditorium. The 4 finalist teams came up with details business proposal that covered marketing strategy, financial analysis, organizational structure, human resource plan, etc. After a hard-hitting judgment by the faculty members and outstanding performance by the participants ‘The Future Executives’ was chosen as the Champion of ABT 2010 followed by ‘The Last Survivors’ who was chosen as 1st Runner-up and ‘The Octopus Paul’ as the 2nd Runner-up. Tasnova Khan was selected as the Best Performer of the competition.
The honorable guests for the event were Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Director of MBA program, Dr. AKM Matiur Rahman, Director of BBA program, Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Head of Accounting & Finance Dept., Mr. Rashed Chowdhury, Head of Management Department, and Mr. Shibli Zobair, Head of Operations Management Dept. The event was successfully ended after the prize giving ceremony and photo session.
