Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna and Dulce Corazon Z. Lamagna, Members of the Board of Trustees of American International University‑Bangladesh, attended the THE Asia Universities Summit 2026 (04/22/2026–04/24/2026, Hong Kong), a three‑day forum organised by Times Higher Education in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology that convened vice‑chancellors, research directors, policymakers and funders to address strategic academic priorities in Asia; sessions focused on research strategy and transnational consortia, AI in teaching and assessment and research integrity, climate adaptation and university sustainability, health systems and pandemic preparedness, internationalisation models that prioritise equity, and governance and financial resilience, with workshops offering templates for AI policy, consortium MOUs and equitable mobility agreements; presenters shared empirical frameworks for assessing interdisciplinary impact and AI‑augmented pedagogy, and summit outcomes stressed institutional agility, regionally coordinated research agendas (notably in climate and health), stronger mechanisms for research translation, and multi‑stakeholder governance for AI, while Dr. Lamagna and Ms. Lamagna used the summit to initiate partnerships, explore funding opportunities, and gather best practices to inform AIUB’s policy and research development.
