AIUB and USA INKED MOU

After some months of  negotiations, the American International University –Bangladesh  and the University of Alabama, USA agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which signifies the formal partnership of the two prestigious universities. The agreement focuses on Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical or Computer Engineering  based on the following schemes: 0 + 4, 1 + 3, or 2 + 2. The undergraduate students must start their program with AIUB and if they are interested and qualified, after 1 year,  they can now move to USA  to pursue their program.  Upon the agreement of the two institutions, degree maybe granted by both or either one. While still in the undergraduate program, the student can prepare for the graduate program by taking  advance courses that can be transferred  to graduate program should they desire to pursue graduate program.  The details of these arrangement are stipulated in the MOU which also include opportunities for both institutions to allow their faculty for exchange program and collaborative research projects. It is also expected that this partnership will be expanded to cover the business education programs. Both parties have expressed optimism that the partnership will succeed to mutually benefit the two educational institutions of higher learning.
The MOU was signed by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr. Carmen Z.Lamagna the AIUB and Dr. James J. Connors Jr. on behalf of the University of Alabama USA. Prof. Dr. Siddiqui Hossain, Dean Faculty of Engineering, AIUB  and Dr. Mohammad S. Alam for the USA also signed the MOU as witnesses. Prof. Dr. Charles C. Villanueva, Pro Vice Chancellor, Mr. Basak Rinku and Dr. Mannan Program Coordinators of the EEE programs were also present during the signing ceremony held in the Board Room of the university today, 15 May 2014.
