AIUB ACCOUNTING EVENING

The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Department of Accounting has organized an exclusive evening on Tuesday, 12th of May 2009. Department’s aim was to enlighten the area of Accounting, as the crown driver in the present Business world. The theme of the evening was “Accounting for Accountability”. 

The main purpose of the evening was to promote and enhance the importance of accounting in the corporate world, as well as the exposure to the student’s community. The department confidently expresses their understanding to bring accounting as one of the leading area of higher education which requires a strong assistance from the educational institutions and the corporate world as well. Moreover, The Government of Peoples Republic of Bangladesh is currently trying to implement a “Public – Private” participatory budget. The participatory budgetary system seeks transparency and accountability from both the Public & Private administrations. Thus, in near future Bangladesh will need a true & fair accounting practices by the corporations that will ensure accountability not to the stockholders only, but also to the society. Department of Accounting of AIUB acknowledged the importance of such practices which is not really visible in today’s Bangladesh. Department has inaugurated web site which will benefit the students and the faculties through the provided and received resources. Further an academic “AIUB Accounting Association (AAccA)”, has been incorporated which will be a starting point for the students of AIUB, Department of accounting to introduce them in the corporate world and the acknowledged advantages are multi-faced. Participated Government Authorities and Corporate Executives were Mr Ajit Kumar Pal Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce; Mr. A.B.M. Shamsuddin, President of ICMAB; Mr. Mir Shahabuddin Mahmud, Secretary General FBCCI; Mr. Akhter Matin Chowdhury (FCA), M.D. Nuvista Pharma Limited; Mr. M.A Wahab, Company Secretary, Siemens Bangladesh; Mr. Joti Joynuddin, Head of Accounting & Finance, Siemens Bangladesh; Mr. Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub Manik, DMD, Excel Telecommunication, has exchanged their views with the students in the first part of the program “Case Analysis” based on Environmental Management Accounting (EMA). The second part has confidently proved with the cultural presentation that, Accountants are Dynamic and fascinating as a professional crowd.  AIUB Vice President (Academic) Prof. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dean Dr.  Charles C. Villanueva, Faculty members and high officials were also present in the occasion.
