A workshop titled “a HANDS-ON training in matlab from starting to neural network” was organized by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES), which was held on 30^th March, 2017 at Room No. EL-52, FE Building, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The workshop was conducted by Mr. Md. Arif Abdulla Samy (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB). The main emphasis of the workshop was on introducing MATLAB to Neural Networking. A total of 45 students from EEE & COE Department participated in this workshop.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) commenced the event by giving the welcome speech and he gave a brief idea about the importance of MATLAB in modern engineering and its practical significance. Mr. Md. Arif Abdulla Samy started the workshop with a brief description of the basic tools of MATLAB. He widely discussed about the enriched library of MATLAB.  He simulated some power system circuits using MATLAB after introducing some basic math problems including notation writing, defining variables, complex numbers as well as some graphical representations. He also solved different problems using neural network and answered questions from the students related to this topic.  

Prof. Dr. Md.Abdur Rahman (Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave the closing speech and discussed about the importance of using MATLAB and other simulation tools for engineering studies. Thus, he encouraged the young community of future Engineers to get up to date with different modern Engineering software like MATLAB. Then he handed a certificate & crest to the instructor for his presence and valuable instructions. Mr. Syed Muhammad Baker (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB & Motivator of ACES) and Ms. Shahreen Hassan (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB & Motivator of ACES) graced the workshop with their presence. At the end of the workshop, the participants were presented certificates to mark their wholehearted participation.
