On 7^th February 2016, AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) organized a seminar on “Industrial Automation with PLC” at Room No 266, Faculty of Engineering Building, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The guest speaker was Engr. Hafizur Rahman (Director, Powermerit Limited). The main motive of the seminar was to acknowledge participants to the importance of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) on the industrial operations.

Prof. Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) gave the inauguration speech. He addressed the participants to know the details of PLC for working in the recent automated industries.  Then came the turn of the guest speaker where he started his speech by displaying the slides on the basics of PLC. He came with the history of automation, types of automation, automation equipments and devices. Then he came with the application of PLC, industrial circuits and also practical examples. He mentioned that in recent years, most of the industrial machines are automated and controlled by PLC. Then he showed PLC is a digital computer used for automation of typically industrial electromechanical process.  At the very end of his speech he asked students to get involved with PLC related projects and later he answered to several queries of the students.

Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan (Associate Professor & Head, Undergraduate Program, Department of EEE, AIUB), Mr. A.S.M Bakibillah (Assistant Professor, Department of EEE, AIUB), Mr. Sayed Muhammad Baker (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB, & Motivator, ACES) and Ms. Shahreen Hassan (Lecturer, Department of EEE, AIUB, & Motivator, ACES) graced the seminar with their presence. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman (Associate Professor & Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) shared a few words about PLC and handed over the gifts to the honorable guest speaker. Then the effective seminar came to an end with a vote of thanks to the speaker and AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES).
