On November 30, 2017 a seminar on “Basics of Mobile Communication Network” was organized by AIUB Community of Engineering Students (ACES) at the Library of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Permanent Campus. The seminar was propounded by Grameenphone Ltd. which is the leading mobile phone operator of Bangladesh. They are also known for their technological advancement and networking facilities.

Welcoming the guests and participants, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman (Director, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) inaugurated the event and gave a valuable speech on communication and modern technology. Followed by Mr. Syed Ziaul Islam (General Manager, Head of Radio & Transmission Network Operation, Service Operation Technology, Grameenphone BD) introduced Grameenphone’s  history and vision. Afterwards, Mr. Dipen Sarkar (Deputy General Manager, Head of Integration & Configuration, Service Operations Technology, Grameenphone BD) discussed the working process, cell concept, GSM policy and many other systems briefly. Then, Mr. Syed Jamil Hussain (Deputy General Manager & Head of Radio Network Operation, Service Operations Technology, Grameenphone BD) talked about voice controlling operation, Radio technology evolution, UMTS, LTE, air conditioning system and use of renewable energy in different operations of Grameenphone Ltd. Mr. Adnan Momin (General Manager & Head of OSS Operations, Service Operations Technology, Grameenphone BD) was then invited and he shared his valuable knowledge on GSM Telecom Architecture, operation support system and monitory policy. Next speaker was Mr. Mohammad Shah Alam Bhuiyan (General Manager & Head of Complaint Management, Service Operations Technology, Grameenphone BD) who continued the discussion on the digital journey of Telenor, attractive customer service and vision 2020. All the speakers were very competent and experienced. They also encouraged the participants who wants to pursue their career in telecommunication and networking field. A very interactive question-answer session was conducted by the speakers where participants were seen to come up with very intriguing questions.

Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman concluded the event by encouraging the participants and thanked Grameenphone Ltd. for their support. Afterwards Prof. Dr. Abdul Mannan (Head of Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Engineering) and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman showed their sincere gratitude by providing tokens and certificates of appreciation to the speakers of Grameenphone team. Furthermore, Mr. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Mentor of ACES), Mr. Safayet Ahmed (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering and Motivator of ACES), Mr. Kazi Asif Ahmed Fuad (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering) and Mr. Nasim Al Islam (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering) made the event graceful with their valuable presence.
