ACCREDITATION AWARDED TO UNDERGRADUATE ARCHITECTURE PROGRAM OF AIUB BY THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS

ACCREDITATION AWARDED TO UNDERGRADUATE ARCHITECTURE PROGRAM OF AIUB BY THE INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS BANGLADESH [IAB]

Department of Architecture, AIUB applied for Accreditation from Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) and following a rigorous scrutiny and evaluation process undertaken by IAB, the accreditation status was finally awarded to the B.Arch program on Sunday, January 12, 2014. A team from IAB consisting of its President Dr. Abu Sayeed Mushtaque Ahmed; Additional General Secretary Mamnoon Morshed Chowdhury & Secretary of Education Dr. Zakiul Islam formally handed over the accreditation status to the Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna. The team was warmly received by a group from AIUB which included Dean of Engineering Professor Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain; Department Coordinator Asst. Professor M. Arefeen Ibrahim, Asst. Professor Ashik Vaskor Mannan & Asst. Professor Ashik Ikbal. This achieving of Accreditation status itself is a recognition of the standard of education provided by AIUB and only Six other Architecture Departments out of Sixteen in our country so far have received Accreditation by IAB. This accreditation status will be helpful for the Architecture graduates of AIUB since it will open up a new horizon for them in the professional field. At the end of the visit, Dr. Siddique Hossain and M. Arefeen Ibrahim - on behalf of the Department thanked the team for the cooperation and expressed hope that the Architecture Program will continue to receive this support from IAB along its journey.
