On August 12, 2026, the Department of Accounting arranged an insightful professional development session for Accounting Major students, focusing on the ACCA qualification and career opportunities in professional accounting. The session brought together a team of representatives from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and two distinguished professionals from the accounting and finance industry.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan, Head of the Department of Accounting, who welcomed the guests and participants and expressed his gratitude to the ACCA team for accepting the Department’s invitation. He emphasized the importance of such industry-academic engagement in helping students gain practical knowledge and develop a clearer understanding of professional opportunities in accounting.

The session featured two distinguished speakers, Md. Sohel Rana ACA, ACCA, FIFC, Managing Partner, SOHEL RASEL & CO., Chartered Accountants, and Mohammad Tanvir Hossain FCCA, ACMA (UK), CGMA, Head of Finance & Accounts, SMC Enterprise Ltd. Bangladesh. Mr. Mohammad Tanvir Hossain engaged the students through thought-provoking and inspirational videos and encouraged them to carefully reflect on their future career aspirations and professional goals, while Mr. Rana shared his personal journey from HSC to ACCA, highlighting the challenges and milestones of his professional journey. Their experiences provided students with practical insights into professional qualifications, continuous learning, and career planning.

In the second part of the session, ACCA representatives and volunteers conducted a knowledge-sharing session covering the ACCA levels, examination and marking structure, and exemption policies for Accounting Major students. The session was followed by an interactive quiz, where 10 students won attractive gifts. The winners also received the opportunity to attend a training session organized by the ACCA team in Banani, further enhancing their professional learning experience.

The event concluded with concluding remarks and a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Director (MBA & EMBA Program). He appreciated the guest speakers for their engaging sessions and encouraged students to participate in similar seminars and professional development activities to broaden their understanding of accounting professional qualifications and career opportunities. The event was organized by Dr. Md. Sazzadur Rahman Khan, Ms. Saeeda Tajrian, Lecturer; Mr. Siam Mohammad, Lecturer; and Ms. Sazia Afrin, Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting.
