On 3rd January, 2017 the Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM) arranged a training tour to Aggreko at Ghorashal. Aggreko is a multinational organization who provides faster power generation and temperature control solutions to worldwide customers. Bangladesh has recently been affected by power shortages caused by increased industrial and domestic demand. Aggreko signed an agreement with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDP) to bridge the immediate gap between power supply and demand. Aggreko provides turn-key power packages to BPDP, which feeds power directly into substations connected to the national grid.On behalf of Aggreko, Mr. Ranak Ranjan Deb Nath, Area Operations Manager , Mr. Athula Saman, Operations Manager and Mr. Sridhar, Mechanical Specialist produced a schedule that included a comprehensive lecture and demonstration on Ghorashal 145 MW power generation setup. The visitors got a clear idea about not only about their products and equipment but also different contemporary concepts implemented there such as Kaizen, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Autonomous Maintenance, AM tags, Focus Improvement, Virtual Learning system, Inventory Management etc. The tour contributed much to the trainees, reflected in their participations during the lecture-discussion session and their queries during the demonstration. It was a good learning experience for the faculties to see the actual management operations.
The department of Operations and Supply Chain management is giving thanks to the management of Aggreko for their all-out cooperation. The department of OSCM is also giving thanks to the management of the University for providing full support and cooperation for the knowledge enhancing tour.
