The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) undertook a study tour to Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Board Bazar, Gazipur on 1st December, 2012. The tour was organized for the students of Renewable Energy Technology course and arranged by two course teachers Mr. S.M. Ferdous, Lecturer and Mr. Ahmed Mortuza Saleque, Lecturer in order to introduce the students with the Renewable Energy laboratory facilities of IUT. With the course teachers other faculty members from EEE department Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan, Senior Assistant Professor, Mr. Taskin Jamal, Lecturer, Mr. Sayedus Salehin, Lecturer and Mr. Mahir Asif Mohammed, Lecturer accompanied 50 enthusiastic students in the tour.
On arrival students were greeted and briefed by Mr. Hamidur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Mechanical and Chemical Engg. (MCE), IUT. The students were then divided into two groups and were given introduction with the Renewable Technology laboratory equipments. Then the students are demonstrated the working principle of solar water heating system, different types of solar collectors, biogas plant and photovoltaic-thermal hybrid system. Moreover, they performed one experiment with Mini Wind Turbine.
The students got a clear practical idea about solar, wind and biogas energy system. The study tour contributed greatly to the students, reflected in their participations during the lecture-discussion session and their queries during the demonstration.
Prof. Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Md. Abdur Rahman Assistant Professor and Head, EEE Department and Mr. Rinku Basak, Assistant Professor and Head, Dept. of EEE had provided their continuous support for the arrangement of the tour. Mr. Adnan Quaium, Lecturer and Mr. Kazi Firoz Ahmed, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, also helped to organized the tour.
