A seminar on “Taking Leap into the Next Generation with Mobile Technology” was held on June 19th, 2012 at AIUB Auditorium, Campus 1,6th Floor. The seminar was organized by the joint effort of AIUB Operations Management and Marketing department with the assistance of AIUB Business Club and AIUB Operations Management Club. Professor Dr. Charles C. Villanueva Dean, Faculty of Business Administration inaugurated the seminar and presented the welcome speech among the participated students. The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury and Mr. Ashfaque A. Mohib, Faculty, FBA, AIUB.
The guest of the honor was the dynamic CEO of bKash Limited, Mr. Kamal S. Quadir.
Kamal is well known as the Bangladeshi American entrepreneur who created the electronic marketplace, CellBazaar, launched in 2006 in Bangladesh that allows buyers and sellers to connect with one another and buy and sell goods and services using their mobile phones or computers. Kamal has received many awards including MIT Ideas Award (2005), the Tech Award for “Applying Technology to Benefit Humanity” (2007), Global Mobile Award of the GSM Association in the category of “Best Use of Mobile for Social & Economic Development” (2008), Telecom Asia’s “Asian Innovation of the Year” Award (2008) and India’s Manthan Award (an annual award for South Asia given in recognition of exceptional digital content creation) for “Best E-Content for Development”. He has a BA from Oberlin College and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management
Mr. Kamal discussed many important aspects of our country in terms of economy and the changes that could be made through mobile technology. He also discussed about the importance of bKash in our daily life and how it can make our life easier. Another important aspect which he mentioned about bKash was the benefits which the village people are receiving by using bKash.
Some students participated in the question/answer session. Mr. Kamal S. Quadir answered all the questions in a very good and humorous manner. After the presentation, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration presented the Certificate and Souvenirs to Mr.Kamal S. Quadir and his team. The seminar was concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Associate Dean of Business School.</td>
