A seminar on "Future of Power System and Higher Studies Abroad" organized by ESAB AIUB Unit Face.

Engineering Students' Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) has organized a seminar on, "Future of Power System and Higher Studies Abroad" at AIUB, EEE Seminar Room-266, Campus-2, on 11th March 2014.Motive of this seminar was to launch the basic ideas of renewable energy, smart grid and the tricks and techniques of higher studies abroad to the engineering students. Prof. Dr. A.B.M. Siddique Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Engineering) was present as the cheif guest. He presented his inaugural speech by thanking ESAB for organising such a seminar and then emphasizing the importance and effects of energy conservation, micro grid concepts and higher studies in abroad. He also advised students to evaluate knowledge before focussing on a specific field of research. Then, Mashrur H. Shurid, (Development and Planning Secretary, ESAB Executive Committee) presented his welcome speech. At first, Mr. Sakib Ahmed (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), through a multimedia presentation, gave the basic concepts of renewable energy. Then he illustrated different types of renewable energy, its effects, cause of its use, advantages and disadvantages. Also, some very helpful examples and researches were shown.Then, Mr. Taskin Jamal (Lecturer, Facuty of Engineering, AIUB), provided the fundamentals of smart grid. Its difference from normal grid, advantages, effects, resources, benefits and demand were discussed through a multimedia presentation. Also, an application of GIS to find out the potential of rooftop solar PV in Dhaka city was presented.Later on, Mr. Mohammad Shafquatul Islam (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), described the process and benefits of higher studies in abroad. He demonstrated the different ways to apply in different countries for higher education and also talked about job sectors. Afterwards, Mr. Taskin Jamal (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) demonstrated further with techniques and tricks of higher education abroad and also shared his experiences. Later on, Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Director (Faculty of Engineering) & Associate Professor, gave a thanks note. He and Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Special Assistant, Office of Student Affairs) handed over crests to the Key Presenters Mr. Sakib Ahmed, Mr. Taskin Jamal and Mohammad Shafquatul Islam as a symbol of appreciation. The entire seminar was hosted by Nawshin Islam (Face member) and it was organized by Upoma Saha (Face member) and other executives, organizing and working members under the supervision of senior Face member Md. Arafat Rahman Tushar. The event was also graced by the presence of Mr. Rashedul Hoque (Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB), Ms. Humaira Salmin(Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB),Mr. Rakibul Hafiz(Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB) and Mr.Adnan Mohammad(Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB).
