A Project Management Case Study was presented by Mr. Tarek Abdullah, an alumni of EMBA Program, Department of Operations Management, Faculty of Business Administration, AIUB. He presented his case study on Shadhinata Tower, Construction Project, where he has been serving as the Project Director. The presentation was conducted on 24th November, 2013, 7:00 – 9:00PM, in front of students of “Managing Operations and Quality”, both sections C and D, respectively, whereas Mr. Ashfaque A. Mohib is the course instructor. The seminar’s objective was to enrich student’s knowledge on project management topics, portraying a real-life experience, with this construction project, untaken by the AIUB alumni.
Mr. Adbullah, repeatedly mentioned that the topics, tools and techniques he has learned from project management course, such as developing project charter, WBS, Gantt chart, critical path methods, budgeting, status reports and project software played an important role in delivering this project with greater success. Shahinata Tower is a unique commercial building in Dhaka city, which is one of a kind with the most automated building management system, in the country.
The students were very tentative during the presentation, inspired by the case study presentation, and motivated to apply more of their learnt knowledge, knowing that one of their own recent AIUB graduate has accomplished such an original feat.
