AIUB Film Club (AFC) received the 2nd best award in the very first STAR-UIU Documentary Festival that was held at the Star Cineplex located at Bashundhara City, on the 19th September, 2013. The Documentary Festival was arranged by United International University (UIU) & Star Cineplex on the topic: ‘Urban Transportation System of Dhaka City’. It was participated by the students of six private universities of Dhaka- American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), ASA University of Bangladesh (ASAUB), BRAC University, Daffodil International University (DIU), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) & United International University (UIU). 17 documentary films, all near about 3 minutes in length were premiered in the competition venue of the grand finale event held at the Theater of Star Cineplex. AIUB was represented in the competition by three films directed by AFC members. These were: 1. Nagar Jiban Director: Imon Faisal (CSE), Assistant Director: Mahbub, Md.Fazlauddin (Rony) (BBA), Rasheduzzaman (BBA); Sultana, Suraiya (MMC) 2. Urban Transportation System of Dhaka City, Director: Kundu, Sajib (BBA), Assistant Directors: Yasin, Abdullah (EEE); Hasan, Md. Nazmul (BBA), Diponkor, Talukdar (CSE), Cinematographer: Singh, Amit Kumar (EEE), Dhaka City: Urban Transportation System, Director: Rashid, Md.Tanvir (EEE), Assistant Director: Alam, Md.Saif-Ul- (EEE), Cinematographers: Singh, Amit Kumar (EEE); Alfe Sani (EEE)
Among these 3 documentary films, ‘Nagar Jiban’ became the 2nd best film in the competition. The units of all the documentaries also received crests for participating in the event.
