Abstract
"Bangladesh is exposed to energy demand and vulnerability as a result of climate change and so the large-scale solar power would be an attractive solution in the realization of sustainable development. The size of this research is to assess the feasibility and sustainability of the large-scale introduction of solar power in Bangladesh as far as the Sustainable Development Goals are concerned. Solar capacity on utility-scale, land area, levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and reduction of carbon dioxide were studied between 1995 and 2024. The dataset was cleaned and prepared after checking missing values, duplicate data, and sorting of the observations according to their year and normalizing where necessary. They used trend analysis, correlation analysis, linear regression, multiple regression and ROC curve assessment. The SOLAR capacity and reduction of carbon demonstrated a gradual increase whereas LCOE decreased with time. The growth rates of solar capacity (in MW/year), carbon reduction (in 100,000 ton/year), and LCOE (in USD/MWh/year) were 137.93, 0.51 million, and 4.66, respectively. The analysis of the correlation revealed a positive strong correlation between solar capacity and carbon reduction and negative correlation between LCOE and sustainability performance. The results of regression confirmed that solar capacity was an important factor of carbon reduction, and ROC analysis revealed that the performance of classification was excellent. Solar power on a large scale is a viable and viable energy direction that can be taken in Bangladesh, yet land constraints, investment requirements and grid modernization are key issues. These results then in favor of cleaner energy planning and more robust renewable policy towards long term energy security and resilience. "
