Abstract

Background: In Bangladesh, the expansion of computerized innovations prompted more vitality utilization and electronic waste, both of which are dangerous to nature. Green Program Engineering Creating Computer Programs with Minimal Environmental Impact The need for green program engineering has become more critical. To achieve this, rational computing focuses on reducing the carbon footprint associated with software and hardware by prioritizing energy efficiency and ecological sustainability. Objective: The paper reviews these developments from a sustainable program development standpoint, focusing on key components such as energy conservation measures, reduction of carbon emissions of data centers and promoting of sustainable lifestyle in the target community. Methods: The research examined data spanning from 2015 to 2023, analyzing multiple elements including the advancement of energy-efficient computing practices, governmental assistance, carbon emissions produced by data centers, and the adoption of cost-effective strategies by businesses. Results: From 2015 to 2023, there was a notable increase in green computer program initiatives, growing from 15 to 100. Data centers' carbon emissions decreased by 27%. The government’s financial backing for sustainable projects reached 100 million BDT, while the number of academic articles published grew from 5 to 50. Additionally, the industry's dedication to environmentally-friendly methods has risen, with 75 companies adopting sustainable practices. Conclusion: Notable changes in carbon emissions and energy efficiency suggest that sustainable software development is progressing in Bangladesh. Fostering speculation in planning, examining past experiences, and conducting research is crucial for maintaining ongoing advancement and enduring sustainability in the IT industry
