1st year Celebration of the Economics Department

The Department of Economics, AIUB, has started its journey with the commitment of providing high quality education to the students to make future economic leaders of the country. The department is offering several programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate students such as BSS Economics program, Major in Economics (BBA program) and Major in Economics (MBA program). The recently launched BSS program successfully crossed its first year journey. To commemorate the moment, Economics Department organized a 1st year celebration program at the AIUB auditorium on 14th February, 2011. On this auspicious occasion, the department also welcomed the fresher’s of the BSS program with keen enthusiasm. The program was chaired by the Honorable Dean of FBA and FASS Professor Dr. Charles C. Villinueva. The chair of the special guest was ornamented by M. Shahjahan Khan, Senior Vice President of DCCI. A colorful program was organized by the active participation of the students of the department and the faculty members.  The celebration program was divided in to two sessions. The first session was constituted with the welcoming speech and sharing of experiences among the students and the faculty.  Prof Dr. Ahmed Neaz delivered an inspiring speech on why to study economics. The honorable guest who is a renowned businessman with economics background nicely depicted his practical and real life experience to the fresher. The session ended with a 1st year celebration cake and presenting gifts to the fresher’s as well as the honorable guests.  An enchanting cultural program was performed by the students in the second session (which included, songs, drama and dances) representing the county’s heritage and traditions. The program ended with lots of promises and dreams for the future to make the Economic Departments as one of the leading academic departments in the university.
