The 15th National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad (NUMO) 2024, Dhaka North Region, was held successfully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The event was a grand celebration of mathematical talent, bringing together students, educators, and renowned academicians in a spirit of learning and competition.
The program began with a warm welcome speech delivered by Dr. Madhabi Islam, Convener of the event, setting an inspiring tone for the day. The Chief Guest, Dr. Babul Hasan, Professor of Mathematics, Dhaka University, officially inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of mathematics in national and global progress.
We were honored to have Professor Dr. Shaikh Suhrabuddin, a legendary mathematician and the Founding Secretary of the Bangladesh Mathematics Society, as the Special Guest. His presence was a source of motivation and inspiration for the participants.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 112 students representing 22 universities from the Dhaka North Region, showcasing their exceptional mathematical abilities.
The Closing Ceremony, held in the AIUB Auditorium, was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, as the Chief Guest. His encouraging words highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting young talents.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. M. Mostafizur Rahman, Head of the Department of Mathematics, AIUB. He expressed gratitude to the participants, guests, and the organizing team for their collective efforts in making the event a resounding success. The unwavering support of AIUB’s management was instrumental in the success of NUMO 2024.
