On Wednesday, 21 April 2021 at 12 noon, the 115th Academic Council Meeting of the American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) was held through the online platform of Microsoft Teams. AIUB has successfully completed three consecutive semesters virtually without any disruption.
In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the accomplishments of the spring 2020-21 semester. The Faculty of Engineering admirably organized the 2nd ICREST conference on virtual platform in January 2021. A good number of academic and non-academic researches were conducted and publications were published by the AIUB teachers and students in this semester. Several international, national, and internal webinars, workshops, projects, trainings and cultural activities were also held during this semester. On behalf of the Faculty of Business Administration Ms. Farheen Hassan briefly informed the members about their upcoming international conferenced titled 2nd AICBM in October 2021 in the hybrid format. International conferences of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology are also in queue one after another at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. A plan of holding the upcoming convocation virtually was also discussed in the meeting. Later, Prof. Dr. Siddique Hossain, Dean, Faculty of Engineering highlighted the importance of including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in a more integrated manner in the academic curriculum and prepare AIUB students for a new world after the pandemic. He cited numerous studies conducted in recent times focusing expected characteristics among future leaders to deal with the unprecedented uncertainties caused by the pandemic. The tentative academic calendar for upcoming Summer semester was also discussed in the meeting. At the end of the meeting, all the Academic Council members highly appreciated the determination and collaborative efforts of AIUB students, guardians, teachers, staffs, officials and the management for successfully completing the Spring 2020-21 semester.
