Department of Media and Mass Communication initiated a new program titled ‘Meet the Editor’. Its first episode took place on the Media Studio on June 9, 2016, where Naem Nizam, the editor of Bangladesh Protidin, was present as the keynote speaker.
The editor of the largest circulating daily of Bangladesh shared his experience of working in the journalism sector and discussed about various aspects of contemporary journalistic practices. His speech was followed by a question-answer session where students asked about recent trends of the media industry and also sought suggestion about their career planning. The veteran journalist asked the students to set their goals early and follow their dream with full dedication and hard work.
The advisor of the Department of Media and Mass Communication, Dr. AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan,said that ‘Meet the Editor’ program will create a bridge between the students of the department and the media professionals. He expressed gratitude to Naem Nizam for attending the program out of his busy schedule and said that the relation between Department of Media and Mass Communication of AIUB and Naem Nizam as well as his institutions will go from strength to strength from now on.
The program ended with the vote of thanks from the Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr. Taizul Islam, who asked Mr. Naem Nizam to stand beside the students whenever they need any kind of guidance and support.
Ms. Afroja Shoma, lecturer of the Department of Media and Mass Communication acted as the host of the program. Other faculties were also present in the program.
