On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the IEOM AIUB Student Chapter arranged an Industrial Visit at ‘Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory (BMTF)’, situated at Shimultoli, Gazipur. The industrial visit was arranged to enrich students’ practical knowledge on how industries run in actual life inspire them to build their careers in industries.
The journey towards BMTF started from AIUB at 8:00 AM with 22 students from the Department of IPE, AIUB, including 2 honorable faculty members Dr. Muhibul Haque Bhuyan, Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB, and Mahamudul Hassan, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB. After reaching there, at 10:15 AM an officer from the BMTF delivered an introductory speech. Then the factories inside BMTF were visited with the full co-operation of the authority, beginning with the ‘Assembly Shop’, where cars are assembled and modified. This was followed by a trip to the ‘Machine Shop’, where a vast knowledge of the cutting section, lathe, and drilling was gained. The tour then proceeded to the ‘Furniture Factory’, where various kinds of wood and different types of furniture were observed, and the operation of 3D printers and the furniture production process were demonstrated. Finally, the ‘Footwear and Leather Factory’ was visited, and it was shown how leather is processed into footwear, bags, and other utensils, and the key differences between the RMG and leather cutting sections were also seen.
The informative visit was then concluded with a short tour of the BMTF area.
