Nur Hossen Asif, a student from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and MD Tanjir Arafat, a student from the Department of Computer Engineering (CoE) of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), have won the Gold Medal and the IYSA Special Award for Innovation in Sustainable Environmental Impact at the World Science, Environment and Engineering Competition (WSEEC) 2025. The competition took place from May 19–22, 2025, at Universitas Pancasila in Jakarta, Indonesia, and featured a total of 293 teams from 14 countries, with 59 teams competing onsite.
Asif and Tanjir, along with their other team members Mohammad Mehran Islam Mahim and Md Reain Shahrior Prottoy, showcased their innovative project titled: “Green Rover: Smart Autonomous System for Waste Collection, Sorting, and Environmental Monitoring”. The team was mentored by Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Professor, Head (Graduate Program), Department of EEE, AIUB whose guidance was instrumental in bringing the project to success.
This outstanding achievement by Asif, Tanjir, and their team not only highlights the creativity, technical excellence, and collaborative spirit of AIUB students but also reflects the university’s continued commitment to fostering research, innovation, and global academic distinction.
