December 7, 2017 (Thursday), 4:00 – 6:00 PM : Seminar on Nuclear Energy & its Prospect in Bangladesh

The Department of Physics of American International University – Bangladesh is organizing a Seminar on Nuclear Energy and its Prospect in Bangladesh on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in AIUB Auditorium (Banani Campus). The Honorable Vice Chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna will be the chief guest and Prof. Dr. Khondoker Md. Nasiruddin, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Gopalgang will be present as special guest.

The keynote speaker of the seminar is Prof. Dr. Afroza Shelley, Head, Department of Physics, AIUB. Prof. Dr. M.A. Wadud Mondal the Honorable Vice Chancellor of University of South Asia and Prof. M.A. Quaiyum, Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, AIUB & Member of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant will give their valuable speech on the topic of the seminar as honorable guest speaker.

December 13, 2017 (Wednesday) Physics Quiz Contest [Final Round]

The Department of Physics of American International University – Bangladesh is inaugurating a quiz contest for the students of Physics 1 and Physics 2 courses on occasion of the victory day of Bangladesh. Our mission is to explore the exciting and competitive issues of science and technology and to increase the interest in Physics/science among the students also to provide recognition to the extraordinary and talented students.

The first phase selection is already done to select best 10 contestants among around 200 participants. The second phase that is the final round will be staged on 13th December, 2017, at 3:30 to 5:30 PM, in the permanent campus. Top three contestants will be selected among 10 in the final round.

December 27, 2017 (Wednesday) Nuclear Energy Poster Fair

The Department of Physics of American International University – Bangladesh is organizing a day long poster fair on Nuclear Power Plant participated by the students of Modern Physics course on 27th December (Wednesday). More than 60 groups will present their posters. The fair will be divided into eight zones depending on different areas of nuclear power plant

1. Nuclear Power Plants (Different Types of Reactor)

2. Nuclear Fuel Material (Ore to Core)

3. Nuclear Fuel in a Reactor (Front-end)

4. Nuclear Waste Management (Back-end)

5. Nuclear Radiation

6. Awareness of Nuclear Energy

7. Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant

Among them one of the zones will run a project named as “Design Your Own City Reactor” where eight selected groups (according to their Midterm result) will design reactors for eight different Cities of Bangladesh. There will be a Video Presentation corner where they will present different simulation on Nuclear Fission, Fusion, Chain Reaction, safety feature of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and more. At the end of the day, 15 best posters and 1 best project will be awarded according to the evaluation by the renowned jury board.
