Team AIUB participated in the ERASMUS+ KA107 program at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB)

The Erasmus+ program KA107 Romania took place at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) from June 26 to July 2, 2022. A team of 4 faculty members from AIUB participated in this prestigious EARSMUS+ Program. Team AIUB comprised of Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Mr. Manzur H. Khan, Director, Office of Student Affairs & Associate Professor, Computer Science, AIUB, Mr. Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan, Head, Computer Engineering, Special Assistant (OSA) and Associate Professor, Faculty of Engineering, AIUB and Mr. Chowdhury Akram Hossain, Associate Professor and Special Assistant (OSA), Faculty of Engineering, AIUB.

A discussion between representatives of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and Prof. Dr. Ing. Habil. Robescu, Dean of the Faculty of Energy Engineering at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB), served as the program's opening act. The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) engaged in several activities following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including visits to the UPB campus, cultural exchanges, and discussion on potential collaborative future activities. Representatives of both universities exchanged their views on a prospective joint master's program in English. In accordance with this approach, students can complete some of their coursework at AIUB before moving on to the host university to finish their thesis and the remaining courses. Both universities agreed to continue the staff exchange mobility in future and introduce student exchange mobility under the Erasmus+ program.

The host coordinator, Dr. Sava Gabriela Nicoleta, initially welcomed the team at UPB and later conducted a tour of the energy department laboratories for the visitors where she described various research and testing carried out using the equipment. She also introduced the fascinating passive house design that is established by the energy engineering department of UPB to aid in the fight against climate change by reducing CO2 emissions.

During the program, the team AIUB also visited the Erasmus Office at the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) and had a courtesy call with the officials.

Dr. Rahman invited the Energy Engineering Department of UPB to be the academic partner of AIUB in the January 2023 International Conference on Robotics, Electrical and Signal Processing Techniques (ICREST'23).

The Tour ended with a warm dinner at a historical restaurant called Hanu' lui Manuc Bucharest with Dr. Vladimir Tanasiev and Dr. Gabriela Nicolta Sava from UPB.
